The Senior Manager, Translational Medicine Program Management, provides program management support to cross-functional Translational Working Groups (spanning multiple development programs) and will also lead program agnostic initiatives. This role manages translational activities from preclinical research through post-marketing by driving the development and implementation of integrated Translational Medicine strategies, goals, timelines, and key deliverables.

Discover your role:

  • Provides scientific and/or operational direction to R&D functions for assigned Translational Medicine portfolio.
  • Drives Translational Working Groups by integrating key partners from Research, Preclinical, Translational Medicine (Precision Medicine, Clinical Imaging, Digital Biomarkers), Drug Safety and Pharmacometrics, Bioanalytical Sciences, Clinical Development, Program Operations, and other Global Development functions.
  • Develops and maintains integrated Translational Medicine program plans and timelines for strategy development and key program/study milestones, assay/platform/technology deliverables, interim/final data deliverables, and related decision points.
  • Supports development and execution of the Translational Medicine Strategy and its incorporation into clinical strategy, Integrated Development Plans, program/study plans in systems/tools, relevant governance discussions, and ensures cross-functional alignment and smooth transitions across pipeline stages. Manages relationships and communications across Translational Medicine, Research, Clinical Development, Program Management, and other cross-functional partners to improve alignment, execution, and visibility of deliverables.
  • May support cross-functional program-agnostic Translational Medicine initiatives, including process and technology development, and systems/tools enablement.
  • Interacts with senior leaders and may support executive-level communications, Translational Medicine Leadership reviews, and portfolio-level discussions.
  • Independently executes responsibilities. Contributes to program strategy goals and objectives. Influences the direction of the team.

This role requires:

  • Have knowledge of Translational Medicine, Precision Medicine/translational sciences, biomarker and clinical outcome assessment strategies, biomarker/assay development, imaging, digital biomarkers, and sample management planning/logistics.
  • Have a high-level knowledge of drug discovery and development.
  • Proven track record in life sciences program management, including drug discovery and/or development programs.
  • Have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with all levels both within and outside the company to establish credibility with Subject Matter Experts on the project teams.
  • Have strong presentation, critical thinking, planning, problem-solving, and executive communication skills.
  • Actively promote constructive interactions among team members to address difficult situations.
  • Resolve and negotiate conflicts or problems with tact, diplomacy and composure.
  • Handle multiple projects and priorities with exceptional organizational and time management skills (both project and self).
  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree with 8+ years, or a PhD with 7+ years, plus progressive project or program management experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or a related industry. Experience supporting translational medicine and biomarker strategy, clinical development and/or Cross-functional portfolio/program planning and program management certification is preferred.

Salary Range (annually)

$134,400.00 - $219,200.00
