The International Payroll Manager is responsible for the accurate, compliant, and timely delivery of payroll across multiple international locations. This role oversees end-to-end payroll operations, manages third-party payroll vendors, drives process standardization, and partners closely with HR, Finance, Tax, Mobility, Benefits, and Technology teams to ensure payroll excellence and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate is an experienced payroll leader with deep international payroll expertise, strong analytical skills, and a proven ability to manage complex payroll environments while supporting transformation initiatives, system implementations, and process improvements across a global organization.
This role will be based in our Sleepy Hollow, NY offices and requires 4 days per week on-site.
Key Responsibilities
International Payroll Operations: Oversees accurate, compliant end-to-end payroll processing across multiple international regions and countries.
Vendor Management: Manages relationships and performance of global payroll providers while supporting vendor implementations and process improvements.
Compliance, Controls & Audit: Ensures payroll compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, audits, and governance standards.
Payroll Transformation & Technology: Leads payroll technology enhancements and transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborates with internal stakeholders to support payroll operations, financial reporting, employee services, and business growth initiatives.
Team Leadership: Develops and leads payroll team members while driving accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
Let's See If We're a Fit:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive payroll experience with significant international payroll exposure.
- 3+ years of people leadership experience.
- This global role is primarily aligned to U.S. business hours and leads payroll operations across Europe and India, requiring flexibility to collaborate across multiple time zones and provide occasional support outside standard working hours to ensure successful payroll delivery and business continuity.
- Strong knowledge of international payroll regulations, taxation, and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing payroll vendors across multiple countries.
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills (pivot tables etc.)
- Strong project management and stakeholder management capabilities.
- International experience with preferred concentration in Europe, India, and Japan.
Preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), IPASS, or equivalent payroll certification.
- Experience with Workday, Oracle Fusion, SAP, ADP GlobalView, CloudPay, or similar global payroll platforms.
- Experience supporting payroll transformation, shared services, or Global Capability Center environments.
- Experience with global mobility, equity, and payroll-related tax processes.
