We are seeking an Automation Technician to join our Industrial Operations and Product Supply organization in Rensselaer, NY. In this role, you will help ensure the reliable operation of automated manufacturing systems that support biologics production and fill/finish operations. Working closely with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Facilities, and Engineering teams, you will troubleshoot complex process control systems, support continuous improvement efforts, and contribute to the production of high-quality medicines.

  • Work model: On-site

  • Shift Requirements: 3rd Shift, Sunday through Thursday, 12:00 AM to 8:30 AM

Discover Your Role

Help keep the technology behind life-changing medicines running reliably around the clock.

  • Troubleshoot automation, computerized process control, and process monitoring systems supporting GMP manufacturing operations

  • Coordinate automation response activities to resolve equipment and system issues while minimizing operational disruption.

  • Partner with multiple teams during equipment setup, changeovers, and maintenance activities

  • Implement automation testing and verification activities to confirm systems perform as intended

  • Support deviation investigations, corrective actions, and system improvements to enhance reliability and compliance

  • Interpret user documentation and communicate findings, recommendations, and status updates to multi-functional partners

  • Help maintain reliable manufacturing operations during overnight production hours on a dedicated third-shift schedule

This Role Requires

  • Must Have:

  • Associate degree in Engineering or a related technical field with 3+ years of experience supporting process control and/or data acquisition systems; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and computerized automation systems in a cGMP or industrial manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley and Siemens control systems

  • Understanding of ladder logic, electrical systems, instrumentation, and process controls

  • Ability to interpret software lifecycle documentation, engineering drawings, technical evaluations, and test protocols for regulated manufacturing equipment

  • Preferred:

  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations

  • Experience with servers, networking fundamentals, and industrial data systems

  • Knowledge of process control and machine automation within regulated manufacturing environments

  • Understanding of bioprocess equipment, sanitary design principles, and data integrity requirements.

  • Strong communication skills and proficiency with standard business software applications

Gowning & Physical Requirements

Work in a highly regulated manufacturing environment where safety, quality, and compliance are part of every shift.

  • Adhere to all gowning, hygiene, and PPE requirements within highly regulated environments

  • Safely work around manufacturing equipment, utilities, and energized systems while following established safety procedures

  • Access and navigate manufacturing, utility, and support areas to perform troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance-related activities
