Staff Continuous Improvement Specialist

We are seeking a Staff Continuous Improvement Specialist to join our Continuous Improvement team. In this role, you will accountable for driving targeted, measurable, and sustainable improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People (SQDCP) performance by owning key transformational initiatives and deploying CI systems and tools across the site.

Discover your role:

  • Owning the technical performance and results of key transformational projects (e.g. visual and daily management systems or equivalent site-wide initiatives); working with site leadership to set priorities and translate strategy into actionable plans.
  • Evaluating and prioritising the CI project portfolio against strategic goals, and designs, executes, and project manages significant initiatives aligned to IOPS Strategic Priorities.
  • Tracking and reporting the impact of CI initiatives against SQDCP metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People)
  • Independently facilitates cross-site / cross-functional Kaizens and structured problem-solving activities that eliminate waste, finding alternative solutions and obtaining buy-in even amid resistance or ambiguity.
  • Developing new CI systems, tools, and training, and managing their upskilling and deployment across IOPS.
  • Providing dedicated CI support to a specific organisational group within IOPS, building and sustaining strong relationships with senior leaders and key influencers across functions, and helps the team map who to engage for what, strengthening the team's organisational reach.
  • Preparing and presenting influential reports and proposals to project teams and senior management, tailoring communication style and format to the audience.

This role requires:

  • BS/BA in a scientific, engineering, or business discipline required (MS/MBA preferred), with 9+ years of relevant experience in operations, manufacturing, or a related field, including demonstrated experience in a highly regulated (e.g., GMP) environment.
  • Mastery of best practices in Lean, Six Sigma, Applied Statistics, Theory of Constraints, Lean, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Kaizen.
  • Demonstrated experience applying change management approaches and techniques to drive adoption and sustainment of process and behavioural changes.
  • Ability to build effective relationships throughout the organisation, including senior and executive leadership, and to have open, honest, sometimes difficult conversations while maintaining those relationships.
  • Proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI dashboards etc.) to track and communicate CI impact.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt desired (Master Black Belt a plus); certification level is secondary to a demonstrated track record of leading complex, cross-functional improvement initiatives to measurable results.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, or developing others through structured problem solving, not solely applying these skills individually.
  • Prior experience owning transformational initiatives (e.g., visual and daily management systems, Hoshin Kanri strategy deployment, or a site-wide capability-building program) strongly preferred.
