Temp-Manager, Accounting (contractor role)

Summary: The Manager, Accounting (contractor role) is a critical role within the organization’s accounting department, responsible for preparing and reviewing various schedules/reports/deliverables across multiple accounting areas. The primary purpose of the role is to supplement our current FTEs while the Company is embarking on a multi-year ERP system implementation project. The role partners cross‑functionally with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, IT, Engineering, Facilities, and Finance to ensure accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Inventory Cost & Manufacturing Accounting

  • Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of standard costs within Oracle Process Manufacturing (OPM), including materials, labor, and overhead components and associated variance analysis

  • Analyze and report on batch completions, production variances, inventory levels, and inventory status, partnering with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to resolve issues.

  • Support CMO inventory accounting and reconciliations across the supply chain.

  • Assist in annual physical inventories and cycle counts for internal warehouses, CMOs, and 3PLs.

General Ledger, Fixed Assets, & Operational Accounting

  • Support general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for monthly close.

  • Assist with fixed asset accounting, including asset capitalization, disposals, depreciation, reconciliations, and fixed asset register maintenance.

  • Analyze lease agreements to ensure appropriate accounting under ASC 842, and collaborate with corporate accounting on such matters as appropriate.

  • Support accounting for collaboration-related activities, including deferred inventory, COGS, and partner reporting as applicable.

  • Partner with Finance on budget, forecast, and variance analysis related to manufacturing and operational results.

  • Support development and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, ensuring ongoing SOX compliance.

Accounting Systems & Process Improvement

  • Serve as an accounting systems partner, maintaining and enhancing Oracle OPM, Inventory, Order Management, and Financial modules.

  • Liaise with Accounting, IT, and business stakeholders to troubleshoot functional system issues and support accurate, timely closes.

  • Identify and implement process automation and system improvement opportunities, translating business requirements into functional designs, use cases, and testing documentation.

  • Assist in end-to-end testing for ERP enhancements, upgrades, and new process implementations, including impact assessments.

Education and Experience

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field required.

  • Typically 7+ years of progressive accounting experience and working knowledge of inventory and cost accounting within a manufacturing/biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.

  • Experience with Oracle OPM, Oracle EBS, and/or Oracle Fusion ERP strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, manufacturing accounting, and financial statements.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with reporting and analytics tools (Power BI, SmartView, Noetix, Tableau, Qlik, AI tools, etc.) a plus.

  • Proven systems and process mindset with the ability to translate business needs into scalable accounting solutions.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
