The Director, Contract Development leads the team responsible for the drafting, negotiation, and enterprise-wide governance of contract language, templates, and terms and conditions supporting Regeneron’s commercial customer segments, including IDNs, GPOs, hospitals, and payers/PBMs. Partnering closely with the Contract Strategy leads, they translate approved contracting strategies into executable, compliant contract language and operate at the highest levels of autonomy in drafting, negotiating, and shaping contract language, including for the organization’s most complex and highest-value customer relationships. Working across Contract Strategy, Legal, Customer Engagement, Government Pricing, and Pricing & Contracting Operations, they deliver market-responsive, compliant, and risk-managed terms that balance commercial objectives, customer value, operational feasibility, and compliance. They serve as the senior technical expert and mentor for Contract Development, using discretion to determine appropriate escalation of final contract language, positions, and risk decisions to Market Access leadership.

Discover your role:
- Lead the drafting, negotiation, and execution of high-value, highly complex contract language for institutional and channel customers, translating approved contract strategy into executable terms and conditions.
- Lead the drafting, negotiation, and execution of the organization’s most complex, highest-value agreements in support of Regeneron U.S. Commercial strategies, partnering with Contract Strategy on account strategy.
- Drive innovation in contract language and constructs that create competitive advantage, assessing and managing legal and business risk.
- Serve as the senior contract-language expert and primary point of knowledge on contractual terms and actual performance for all Institutional customers.
- Lead Pricing Review Committee agenda and materials development within Regeneron as it relates to contract language, terms, and risk positioning.
- Lead template governance, clause development, and the early-risk identification framework across the function.
- Lead the ongoing development, governance, maintenance, and version control of contract templates, standard clauses, and agreement language, ensuring consistency and compliance across customer segments, partnering with Legal to enable scalable execution.
- Lead the early-risk identification framework, converting cross-functional input into executive-level risk recommendations, recommending risk tolerance and mitigation approach.
- Lead assessment of the impact of evolving healthcare laws and regulations on contract terms, recommending enterprise-wide template and policy updates.
- Lead critical initiatives, including new template development and risk assessment for new customer segments and contracting channels, setting direction for how Contract Development scales into new areas.
- Advise and influence leadership and partner cross-functionally to shape contractual positions.
- Lead the translation of product, pricing, and customer strategy into executable contract language, partnering with Pricing & Commercial Operations, Contract Strategy, and Customer Engagement as the senior Contract Development authority.
- Lead contract-language strategy and risk positioning within complex institutional negotiations, partnering with Contract Strategy and Customer Engagement to drive successful outcomes.
- Lead efforts to ensure contract language, templates, and agreements align with legal, regulatory, and company policy requirements, partnering with Legal, and coordinate with Pricing and Contracting Operations to ensure operational feasibility and execution.
- Set the standard for the function across tools, capability, and continuous improvement.
- Drive development of analytical tools and frameworks that strengthen contract risk assessment and drafting decisions across the function.
- Lead evaluation and adoption of innovative Contract Development platforms, tools, and enhanced AI capabilities across the contracting workflow.
- Serve as the senior technical expert and mentor for Contract Development colleagues, setting the standard for and elevating drafting capability and consistency across the function.
- Lead Contract Development process re-imaginations, driving continuous improvement of drafting standards, documentation, and governance practices.
This role requires:
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Marketing, Business Administration, Science, Pharmacy, or Accounting/Finance preferred; paralegal degree or certification a plus.
- 12+ years of experience in US Pharma / biotech / healthcare industry, with experience in institutional or channel contracting, contract development / agreement drafting, pricing, and/or market access preferred, including a demonstrated track record of leading complex negotiations for high-value, strategically significant accounts.
- Expert-level knowledge of contract drafting, agreement language, and industry-standard contracting terms, and of GPO, IDN, hospital, specialty pharmacy, specialty distributor, payer/PBM, trade, and/or retail customers.
- Demonstrated track record of leading governance frameworks, driving cross-functional initiatives, and influencing senior partners, with strengths in risk assessment, analytical thinking, problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
