We are looking for a Security Administrator to join our growing team, ensuring the safety and security of our Rensselaer facilities. In this position, vital to the safety of our operations, you will perform security protection duties including site access and patrol, conducting investigations, and responding to emergency situations as needed.

When & where:

  • Rensselaer, NY

  • Saturday-Tuesday, 6:00am-4:30pm

Discover your role:

  • Greeting and processing all people entering the site, including new employees, contractors, and visitors; verifying credentials and issuing security badges and parking permits

  • Patrolling the buildings and grounds on bike, foot, or vehicle to ensure physical security and safety

  • Monitoring electronic protection systems including alarms, CCTV, fire, elevator, and intercom; responding to alarms and calls for security assistance

  • Administering the Security Access Control System to ensure the correct individuals are provided access to restricted areas and partnering with area owners to create access groups for their respective areas, ensuring appropriate access is maintained

  • Responding to emergency situations (e.g. fire, medical, confined space, hazmat and personnel related issues) and contacting the proper authorities when necessary

  • Investigating and following up on incidents that compromise the safety and security of the site as advised by Management and/or Human Resources

  • Discreetly handling critical and confidential information and preparing associated reports

  • Leading special projects such as conducting security audits and developing risk assessments for audit findings, developing and delivering security training programs, planning and organizing traffic control programs and initiatives, monitoring international security incidents and impact on travelers

  • Providing guidance and direction to contract security staff as needed

This role requires:

  • An Associates Degree in a related field and 4+ years of law enforcement, military or security experience, or a High School degree with 6+ years of related experience

  • A valid NYS Security Guard License or equivalent

  • Demonstrated ability to manage crisis situations in a calm and professional demeanor, while maintaining confidentiality

  • Multi-tasking with keen attention to detail

  • Strong technology and computer skills with the ability to learn and operate security related software systems

  • Experience with video surveillance systems and fire alarm and security system interfaces is preferred
