Japan Compliance Associate Manager

They will be a member of the Corporate Compliance Operations team, charged with supporting business operations and delivering on a variety of compliance-related activities for Regeneron in Japan.

These activities include, but are not limited to, assist in the further development and implementation of policies and processes that form Regeneron’s compliance program, conducting compliance training, assisting with internal investigations, supporting local monitoring efforts, and serving as a local subject matter authority on industry regulation (i.e., Guidelines for Prescription Drug Product Information Provision Activities) and codes of practice (i.e., Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA) and Fair Competition Code in Ethical Pharmaceutical Drug Marketing Industry (FTC)). The position will partner closely with other Compliance, Legal and business colleagues.

A typical day may include:

  • Support Director of Compliance in coordinating with Global Compliance on various healthcare compliance (HCC) matters.
  • Assist the implementation and operationalize of Regeneron’s Japan compliance program and policies in coordination with the headquarter (HQ) based compliance team and Law Department representatives as needed.
  • Support the further development and implementation of compliance policies, work instructions, and relevant compliance mentorship that integrate appropriate healthcare, corporate, and other compliance controls to guide Japan and other APAC operations as needed.
  • Assist and support the further refinement, implementation, and execution of a Compliance training program in Japan for new and existing employees and relevant third parties to ensure a detailed understanding and appreciation of the laws and industry codes of practice that impact the company's operations and how to conduct business practices appropriately.
  • Provide compliance/risk management support for the company's rapidly growing operations, proactively working with business leaders to identify compliance risks and issues, and collaborating cross-functionally to offer creative solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Provide timely mentorship and compliance oversight on existing and novel initiatives, which include interactions with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and healthcare organizations (HCOs)(e.g., proving that appropriate compliance policies and procedures are in place and that events are driven in accordance with them).
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Monitoring team to conduct periodic internal reviews, risk assessments, monitoring and auditing to ensure that compliance policies and procedures function as intended, business activities in-line with local Guidelines (i.e Policy on Guidelines for Prescription Drug Product Information Provision Activities) and industry codes (i.e., JPMA) and that the company identifies potential compliance risks and remediates where vital.
  • Support additional projects as identified, in support of key HCC strategies.

This may be for you if:

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Understanding of and experience with the self-regulatory framework for the pharmaceutical industry in Japan with a strong proven understanding of Policy on Guidelines for Prescription Drug Product Information Provision Activities, the FTC and JPMA code.
  • Ability to efficient communication skill.
  • Problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to think creatively and devise solutions to challenging problems.
  • Desire and ability to develop strategy, make decisions and to implement timely solutions, with hands-on creation and delivery of materials and processes.
  • Highly collaborative; ability to work independently and as a teammate; ability and desire to lead, influence and collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.

To be considered,

  • Minimum of BA/BS or equivalent experience required; MBA, JD or any other advanced degree preferred but not required
  • Basic knowledge of Japan healthcare compliance laws, regulations, and industry codes of practice (FTC, JPMA Code etc.)
  • Minimum of 3 years working in or with pharmaceutical companies on healthcare compliance related activities in Japan preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • Business level English and Japanese (reading, writing, verbal).
  • Ability to draft the documents such as mentorship communication messages.
  • High level of integrity with good ethical core values
