Automation Manager (Small Manufacturing Equipment)

This position manages a team responsible for the projects of introducing new small equipment and associated applications into manufacturing in addition to supporting significant upgrades on existing systems. The position is responsible for managing the associated system portfolio and the support staff. This incumbent will assist in the development of the strategic vision for small manufacturing equipment applications within IOPS.

As an Automation Manager in Small Manufacturing Equipment, a typical day might include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Providing high quality support to the System Owner and end-users; This includes, user management, troubleshooting problems, training and managing change requests

  • Managing Automation Engineers on system configurations to meet end user requirements

  • Providing guidance and mentoring to other resources

  • Maintaining responsibility for the accuracy of system documentation, including User Requirement Specifications, Configuration Specifications, Test Plans and Summary Reports

  • Working with the Validation Department to ensure that applications are implemented in accordance with regulatory requirements and IOPS SOPs

  • Working with System Owners to prioritize change control requests and ensures their timely completion

  • Providing assistance prior to, during and post Regulatory/Partner inspections

  • Researching and identifying best practices and emerging trends in automation technology & staying up to date with industry standards

  • Ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget

  • Communicating progress to upper management and customers

  • Creating and managing strategic vision and direction of the Automation small equipment team

  • Acquiring specific and up-to-date technical knowledge of all company processes and procedures associated with any ongoing small equipment projects

  • Ensuring staff compliance with regulatory, corporate, and IOPS policies and procedures

  • Working with staff in the development of annual goals

  • Performing monthly performance reviews and developing annual performance evaluation of staff

  • You have experience in project management

To be considered for this opportunity you should have a BS/BA in Science, Engineering, Instrumentation, Information Technology or a related field and 8+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You should have 3+ years of experience managing teams. Will substitute relevant industry experience for educational requirement.
