The Clinical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of our advanced clinical NGS laboratory, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role, which reports to the Clinical Laboratory Director, involves hands-on involvement in clinical laboratory operations, collaboration with stakeholders, data analysis, and leadership in quality and continuous improvement efforts. The individual in this position will oversee complex laboratory tests and procedures, participate in test validation processes, and contribute to the writing and maintenance of laboratory documentation, all while adhering to regulatory standards. This position requires a New York Medical Technologist License.

In this role, a typical day might include:

  • Direct and oversee the daily operations of the NGS clinical laboratory, including workflow, sample processing, testing, and result reporting to ensure efficient and accurate functioning.

  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory standards and maintain compliance with New York State Department of Health regulations, CAP/CLIA guidelines, and other relevant accrediting agencies. Implement and monitor quality control procedures to guarantee accurate and reliable test results.

  • Drives results in a fast-paced environment by providing operational leadership and presenting organizational capabilities, defining scope of work and delivering results through execution and technical guidance.

  • Participate in design and performance of test validation processes, including method validation, performance evaluation, and verification of assays.

  • Monitor and review laboratory processes and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of required documentation, including work instructions/SOPs, policies, and protocols.

To be considered for this role, you must possess Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field. Valid full New York State Technologist License or in Genetic Testing (Clinical Laboratory Technologist License) with six years of experience. ASCP Medical Laboratory Scientist holders will be considered. Project management certificate is a plus. Minimum of five year of experience working in a next generation sequencing clinical laboratory as a technologist. Experience with eQMS solutions and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Previous experience in next generation sequencing validation processes also required.

Salary Range (annually)

$88,500.00 - $144,500.00
