The Associate Director, Customer Insights role will support the Oncology Business Unit, with a focus on Hematology-Oncology (i.e., MM) through the application of end-to-end primary market research capabilities to drive strategic choices, tactical execution and commercial excellence. This role will be accountable for the design, implementation, and analysis of the primary research studies in order to assess customer needs and to gather insights about healthcare markets. The person in this role will skillfully utilize market research tools and techniques, insights and interpersonal skills, in partnering with Marketing and Sales Leadership and Market Access teams in the development of commercial strategies. This position requires broad expertise in study design, oversight of implementation, and interpretation, as well as a hands-on understanding of secondary data tools and analyses. The Associate Director, Customer Insights will develop and manage market research plans, design and execute primary market research and analyses, and manage budgets in support of the development of commercial assets, new product launch, and in-line market growth. This individual will also collaborate with Competitive Intelligence and Analytics teams to identify potential marketing opportunities and threats, as well as provide input in forecasting products and markets.

In addition, this role requires excellent communication skills, a demonstrated track record of effective business partnership, business impact and influence. This role does not have any direct reports, but will manage contractors, consultants and vendors to complete projects.

A Typical Day Might Look Like This:

The person in this role will have responsibility to develop a comprehensive understanding of various oncologic disease states, including in skin and lung, and will be accountable to apply that understanding to the creation of a fully integrated Customer Insights plan capable of supporting a brand strategy and growth.

  • Translation of business issues and questions into concise market research objectives and primary market research studies with clear and specific deliverables.

  • Independently design primary market research studies, and identify and implement appropriate qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies to understand and assess the underlying needs, behaviors and attitudes of key customer groups.

  • Identify and address business questions, brand issues and manage all Customer Insights projects in support of the brand strategy, product promotion, and evaluation of new market opportunities.

  • Identify current and future market, customer and product information needs through primary and/or in combination with secondary market research outputs.

  • Creation of a plan by which to measure performance against critical success factors. Inform and identify appropriate KPIs based on the brand strategy

  • Select and manage of market research suppliers to execute and analyze research results.

  • Interpret the results provided by consultants and vendors, and incorporate business understanding and insight to develop recommendations. Present study findings and insights, while making recommendations to business teams and members of senior management and guiding the brand team as they implement the insights.

This Position Might Be For You If:

  • Knowledge of and experience with methodologies such as conjoint, discrete choice, max/diff, TURF, gap analysis, segmentation (e.g., k-means cluster analysis, hierarchical, latent class), ethnographies, behavioral science, etc.

  • Knowledge of and experience with a breadth of studies, e.g., demand studies, positioning, segmentation, messaging development, promotional material development, drivers/barriers, etc.

  • Experience crafting and executing pre-launch and inline market research plans; launch experience preferred

  • Strong experience conducting studies among Patients, Healthcare Providers, and Payers in a healthcare/ pharmaceutical/ biotech setting.

  • Ability to translate complex findings and insights from research studies into succinct and actionable recommendations for business teams.

  • Effective management of third party suppliers.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

  • Communication and influencing skills with demonstrated ability to succinctly and effectively present compelling reviews of analyses that integrate insights and business implications/actions to be considered.

​To be considered for this opportunity you must have a Master's degree completed by start date and 6+ years OR Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years experience in Pharmaceutical, Biotech, healthcare industry, and/or Consumer Packaged Goods with specific experience in primary market research, survey design, data analysis (including secondary data), managing suppliers and presenting results. 8+ years' progressive, related industry experience with a minimum 5 years insights and analytical experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries. Oncology experience required. Hematology Oncology experience preferred. Combined US and Global market research experience, preferred. Ability to travel 15-20%.

Salary Range (annually)

$148,100.00 - $241,700.00
