Scientist- Clinical Tissue Biomarker & Histological Analysis

We are seeking a passionate and highly motivated Scientist to join our Clinical Histology Core. We need someone with extensive experience with immunohistochemistry assays and chromogenic-/fluorescent IHC & ISH multiplexing. You will be a part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to developing, implementing, and applying novel histology-based transcriptomics and proteomics techniques to drive and support clinical biomarker strategies and research programs across different disease areas.

As a Scientist, a typical day might include the following:

  • Proactively screening the market and scientific landscape for new innovative tissue-based methods and technologies.

  • Leading technology evaluation, planning, and performing pilot studies, as well as integrating valuable technologies into the existing infrastructure

  • Designing, developing, optimizing, validating, and performing novel tissue-based multi- & high-plex IHC and ISH protocols and techniques

  • Performing automated chromogenic/fluorescent IHC and ISH as well as Hematoxylin Eosin staining’s using different tissue staining platforms (e.g. Ventana Discovery, Leica Bond)

  • Evaluating and validating new antibodies for single, multi- and high-plex IHC protocols

  • Sectioning of FFPE and frozen tissue samples using manual, semi-automated, and fully automated devices

  • Applying of latest whole slide image scanner technology to digitalize histology slides and QC quality of obtained image data

  • Performing and supporting quantitative image analysis of clinical tissue samples to investigate target(s) expression and distribution

  • Authoring comprehensive and integrated development, validation, and technical reports and preparing results and present findings at internal meetings and conferences

  • Implement new state-of-art tissue analysis methods and technologies

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and are comfortable presenting scientific results to project teams

In order to be considered for this role, you must have at least a BS/MS with a degree in pathology, molecular pathology, biological sciences or related biomedical life sciences field and at least 5-7+ years of relevant experience in industry or academic pathology lab setting. We need someone with thorough knowledge and extensive hands-on experience in sectioning and processing of human tissue samples, selection, evaluation, and validation of IHC antibodies, development and validation of multi- and high-plex IHC assays, and automated chromogenic/fluorescent IHC and ISH staining techniques and platforms. Experience in digital pathology and image analysis (e.g. HALO software or Visiopharm) is highly desirable. Knowledge and hands-on experience with spatial transcriptomics techniques (e.g. CosMx, Xenium) is of great advantage.

Salary Range (annually)

$88,500.00 - $144,500.00
